The Rural Education Society

The Society was founded by a statesman, philosopher, and true economist and well known Gandhian, Poojya Sri. S.Kariappa, was born at Sorekayidoddi, a remote village of Kanakapura taluk in an agricultural family. Poojya Sri S.K. was the first graduate of the taluk, with the noble idea of bringing education to the backward and underdeveloped Kanakapura taluk.

The Rural College was started in June 1955 by late Poojya Sri. S.Kariappa, a true Gandhian. The college stood for higher education when there were only a few colleges in the state. The early days of the college were adventuresome, with primitive facilities.
