PRESIDENT

The Rural Education Society (R.E.S.) was established in the year 1932 by Sri. S. Kariappa, a great visionary and educationist. His entire life was dedicated to the upliftment of the rural people of Kanakapura in particular, and Ramanagara district in general. He is known as a true guardian. He served as an MLA for four terms and was a true follower of Mahatma Gandhiji and his freedom movement. He led a saintly life, remaining a bachelor throughout, dedicating himself to the education of rural people. He established about 70 acres of Gandhi Farm at Gattal Rampura near Harohalli. The present 24-acre Rural Education Society campus at Kanakapura provides education to almost 6,000 students, ranging from UKG to Post Graduation (including MBA). Recently, the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture professional degree programme was launched in the 2024–25 academic year. This programme is affiliated with the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK Bengaluru. The aim of the RES institute is to provide education, particularly to the rural poor, as a nonprofit organization. We are striving our best to reach the goal of our visionary with the support of many philanthropists and contributors.
